Here's staring at you, kid

Kids all over the world engage in the dry-eyed fun of staring someone down. The advent of on-line videos has made these contests hot and topical. Check "Staring Contest" on youtube.com and googlevideo.com --your search will yield Staring Contest movies showing babies, cats, mirrors and even chocolate chip cookies.

Star Farm's own mini-cartoon from the Chicago Intl' Film Festival is featured, too. You're welcome to watch it right here.

"Granny" is out "Mimi" is in

Do you know any young grandchildren? What do they call their grandparents?

Baby boomer grandparents love their grandkids--and spend copiously on them--but they don't seem to love being called "Grandma and Grandpa."

I'm hearing names made up of baby pronunciations (like "Mimi"), imports from other countries ("Babo" from Italy and "Buela" short for "abuela" in Spanish) as well as simple first names.

What does your family use?
